严以律己

A man was feeling very guilty about something he did,(which wasn’t very wrong),so he decided to punish himself by not drinking any wateruntil he crossed the desert and reached the end of the forest.

In the desert,he was dying of thirst, but remained composed and did not let his emotions out.

As he reached front part of the forest, it suddenly rained.Rainwater poured into his mouth -the feeling was heavenly…

He thought for a while,

And spat all the water out from his mouth.

Would you have done the same?

Buddhist courage

Let's just say I found this on someone else's blog:

When a rebel army swept into a town in Korea,
all the monks of the Zen temple fled except
for the abbot.

The general came into the temple and was annoyedthat the abbot did not receive him with respect.

“Don't you know,” he shouted,“that you are looking at a man who canrun you through without blinking?”

“And you,” replied the abbot strongly,“are looking at a man who can be runthrough without blinking!”

The general stared at him, then made a bow and retired.

CIP for Darul Ihsan

Went for the 5h CIP session for today. We were at Jurong East Reg. Library at 0730, then I set off with Adam and Jun Wei to West Coast Park. The journey and the destination was so reminiscent - of the 12h Advance NCO hike. We took 176 (I think) there and surprise of surprises - a few teachers and my juniors from JWPS were there!

Met Mrs Syu and Mdm Suriati who donated generously. They are very good teachers. Now I can’t wait for teachers’ day LOL. They were (together with other students) painting the dustbin in West Coast Park. And my luck was quite good - the people there are polite and one woman with her 2 children even donated $100 to each of us! My parents went there too; so totally unexpected. Saw Boon Choong’s mother there also (I think she’s a parent volunteer).

We pang-sehed Adam and went IMM; got chased away by the security. After that, walked to Science Center - Wei Qiang was there LOL. Then would be Chinese / Japanese Garden, where we received our remaining 5% or so donations. (Better than nothing)

All in all collected about at least $110. According to a piece of paper, 100% would go to Darul Ihsan Orphanage - it was their Flag Day. Some volunteers are staying until 2200! Don’t know where they get the energy. I feel as if I have just returned from half an NCO hike. Haha.

Swimming and such

Hi, first post ...

Ok anyway, I swam 6 perimeters of a pool yesterday, which is 12 lenghts and 12 breadths. Just wanted to get away from all the work and projects and whatever 'hits' I've been getting for quite a while now. All the math, the physics, the disinterested CID group I have is driving me nuts. I didn't even know what I was thinking - just wanted to swim, swim, swim. The longer the better. The colder the better. When I dipped in my head it felt really good. It was so cold that I (for once) couldn't even think of anything. And after that I just kept swimming - even though the sky was threatening to rain.

And for today (which is immediately 1 day after the long swim), I ran 2.0km during PE. We boys had to run each round in 2min, followed by a 2min break after every round - which is quite lenient already, though it's still quite tough.

Ok, still got quite a lot left undone. Talk another time.
